Kudal – The presence and strength of KOKAN
should be recognized internationally - keeping this perspective in mind - “GLOBAL KOKAN INTERNATIONAL
MAHOTSAV” will be organized from 27th February 2011 at Bandra-Kurla
Complex.
Mr. Sanjay Yadavrao – Working President
of Kokan Bhoomi Pratishthan informed in a press conference about this mahotsav
and insisted that everyone should be a part of it. He further said that there would be multiple Kokan
Beach Festivals starting this December, in order to promote tourism.
Mr. Sanjay informed the press that from
every angle Kokan is self - dependent, but since last 50 years we are lagging
behind, hence its time now that we utilize our full strength and portray Kokan
as a tourist destination for international tourists.
For this purpose Kokan Bhoomi Pratishthan
along with other NGO’s, Government Institutions and Individuals have united
and put their efforts to organize GLOBAL KOKAN INTERNATIONAL MAHOTSAV.
The main target of this function is to bring international recognition for Kokan, make people familiar with the
regional, cultural and traditional heritage thereby increase the flow of
tourists to this part of India. He further insisted that everyone should be a
part of this positively and deliver more than his best to make it a success
because everyone’s individual effort and strength will contribute / multiply to
become the functions strength.
He continued that “Before the mahotsav
there will be Beach Festival and Cultural Festival during December 2010 in
Raigad, Thane, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri.
These festivals will encourage and boost local arts and cultures, the
final rounds for these functions will be held in Mumbai and the first position
will receive a prize of 1 lakh Indian rupees.
He requested that everyone should take part in it.
The
other dignitaries present at the occasion were Mr. D.M. Suktankar – President
of Kokan Bhoomi Pratishthan, Mr. Mohan Hodawdekar – Kon Bank President, Mr.
Nakul Parsekar of Atal Foundation and Dr. Arvind Kudtarkar of Sindhu Bhoomi
Foundation.
